Christmas Cheer!

Well it's done! Except in my house that's not exactly true as we celebrate today (Boxing Day) and New Years day, so that's more food I need to buy. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I buy enough food to feed a small village. Now this would seem ok except there is only me and 2 members of my family who ever pop round.

On Christmas morning I opened my fridge and it resembled Morrison's meat counter! Sorry to those who don't know Morrison's but it's like a northern Waitrose, just 100 times cheaper lol.

Now I pop in the oven the leg of lamb, beef joint and chicken and realise at this point (a) I've bought way too much food and (b) I need a bigger oven!

This does mean that I do have time for a little gin! Well it is Christmas after all. Now the vegetable plot that I've bought needs to be peeled, chopped, cooked and mashed. This as you all will know takes for-ev-er.

So fast forward to 5pm. I'm still in the kitchen...STILL!!! I do however realise that making a Christmas dinner is akin to preparing an SAS assault as i now have no pans or work surface that can be used! Finding space is like putting a jigsaw together and for some crazy reason I always get the stuff out of the oven before preparing this, thus hopping around like a nutter shouting 'Ow ow ow' as my hands are on fire!

Well it's time to eat and I have 2 mouthful, and say oh that was lovely and take my plate back into the kitchen.

So my Christmas day was spent cooking. Today will be spent cooking and New Years day will be spent cooking.

Thank goodness Christmas only comes once a year. I'm sick of bloody cooking!
